Established in 2003, Therapia is the brainchild of massage therapist Alex Gwinnell BA (Open) MFHT.
Alex specialises in using manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) to help people undergoing treatment for cancer, those with chronic conditions such as Lymphoedema and Fibromyalgia and post-surgery patients – including people who’ve had cosmetic procedures.
This expertise is offered alongside the more traditional therapies such as Reflexology, Indian Head Massage, and relaxation therapies for general wellbeing.
A hugely experienced practitioner, Alex has numerous qualifications and a wonderfully calm and relaxing demeanour. With a degree in Human Biology and Psychology, she is well placed to understand her clients’ physical and emotional needs, providing completely personalised holistic treatments. You are, quite literally, in safe hands!
Whilst the type of treatment is agreed at booking, Alex always takes time before the session starts to understand any particular issues or niggles so that she can address these as part of the process.
Therapia treatments mainly take place in the comfort and familiarity of your own home. All you need to supply is a warm space big enough for Alex’s comfy massage bed and a couple of towels. But feel free to add a relaxing playlist and a scented candle!
Alex says: “Relaxation is such a huge part of what I do, and people are generally most relaxed in their own environment. By offering a mobile service I feel that people can get extended benefit from their treatment. No need to scrabble back into clothes and head off into the cold – just continue to enjoy that post treatment feeling of wellbeing.”
Therapia is based in Orpington and Alex provides treatments across the borough. She can travel further afield but additional charges will apply to cover the extra travel.
